Jabba takes part in the worlds biggest darts tournament this weekend, as he takes his place in the PDC 2016 World Darts Championships.  With a £300,000 first prize, and £10,000 on offer to first round losers, this is the greatest ever prize in darts.

It’s all being shown live on Sky Sports, which has it’s own 24/7 darts channel during the three weeks of the tournament.

Jamie’s first game at the worlds is Saturday afternoon, against the winner of a prelim game.

Round 1:  Jamie Caven 3-0 Rob Szabo

Round 2:  Jamie Caven 4-0 Ricky Evans

A perfect game for Jabba, his finishing (60%) is spot on, with lots of two/three darts combos.  He never lets Ricky get into the game at all, and it’s over before anyone has time to make a cup of tea!  Jabba loses just one leg in the game, and that’s two games now without dropping a set.

Round 3:  Jamie Caven 1-4 James Wade

It’s the special format “Double in double out” World Grand Prix time – and every dart is live on Sky Sports.

Ian White kicks off his tournament against his mate, practice partner, and travel mate Ian ‘Diamond’ White – just typical of those darts draws, they never take friendship into account!  Both players will be trying their hardest to win though – friendship counts for little on the oche, and they both understand that.

Make sure you watch live on Sky Sports, from 7pm, Monday 5th October.  The first round is best of 3 sets, each set requiring 3 legs to win.

partypoker.com World Grand Prix. Monday October 5 (7pm-12am)
First Round

Jamie Caven 0-2 Ian White

First Set
1-0 – White lands a 180 and has enough cushion to initially miss three doubles to win the leg, with Caven missing two darts at double 16 to allow his rival back in on double two.
2-0 – Double three sees White move two legs up.
2-1 – Caven hits back with his first leg of the contest.
3-1 – Tops gives White the opening set.
Second Set
1-0 – White fires in a 180 and double 16 to move a leg up.
1-1 – Caven finishes 53 on tops to level.
1-2 – Caven follows a 180 with a 76 finish to move ahead in the set.
2-2 – White lands a 180, and is again given a reprieve for missed doubles as Caven misses his chance to claim the set, as the Stoke thrower posts double one to move a leg away from the win.
3-2 – White fires in his fourth maximum of the game before finishing 81 on double 12 to seal the win.

Jabba in the World Grand Prix Draw

After a long weekend in Barnsley, Jabba can travel home safe in the knowledge he qualified for next week’s World Grand Prix. He finds himself drawn against his good friend Ian White, but there are no friends up their on the oche!

So it’s time to practice those doubles – as they are especially important in the “Double in / double out” format.   All darts fans can watch it live on Sky Sports, Oct 4-10th.

PDC Euro Tour; Dutch Darts Masters

Jabba continues his darts travels this weekend, as the Dutch Darts Masters kicked off on Friday with the first round of the PDC European Tour event being split across two sessions in Venray.  The £115,000 tournament is being held from June 5-7 at the Evenementenhal in Venray, as 48 players bid to take the title.

Jamie being one of the seeds misses out the first round on Friday, joining the action on Saturday afternoon.

Some 4,500 fans packed into the venue to watch the players – while it’s not on TV, it’s still a HUGE venue stuffed full of loud darts fans!

Round 1:  Bye
Round 2:  Jamie Caven 6-0 John Henderson
Round 3:   Jamie Caven 6-5 Dave Pallett
1/4 Final:  Jamie Caven 6-2 Kim Huybrechts
Semi Final:
 Jamie Caven 4-6 Justin Pipe

A good run today for Jabba – but too many missed doubles early on in the semi-final means he misses out on a European final.  £5,000 won on the rankings.

The PDC Pro tour moves to Coventry for three days of Player Championship floor tournament events, and with £10,000 first prizes up on offer each day, there’s a LOT to be playing for.  While there’s no Phil Taylor, the rest of the world’s top players are taking part, including world number 1 MvG, and World Champion Gary Anderson.  As often said these days, “There are no easy games”.

Jabba enters the three days as 17th seed.

Jabba at 2015 UK Open

Jamie headed down to Minehead this week for the ITV4 televised ‘FA cup of darts’, the PDC UK Open.

It’s an open draw event, so seeds aren’t protected like in other events.    The £300,000 tournament sees play across eight stages in Friday’s early rounds, as professional stars are joined by amateur qualifiers who have won through Rileys Qualifiers in this unique tournament.

Round 3:  Jamie Caven 9-3 Terry Jenkins
Round 4:  Devon Petersen 9-6 Jamie Caven

After beating the hugely experienced Terry Jenkins, Jabba goes out to Petersen, who had a great run in the tournament.  £3,000 prize money won.

Final Three 2015 UK Open Qualifiers

UK Open qualifiers again in Wigan, and each of the three £50,000 PDC ProTour event features over 200 players, with PDC Tour Card Holders joined by PDPA Associate Members as the second day of the weekend’s treble-header.

Another three day ‘weekend’ of darts for Jabba, as he continues with the second half of the UK Open Qualifiers.  After the first three days, and £500 earned, Jamie is probably ‘safe’ qualified for the TV finals, but he will want some better luck and results to see him try and make the top 32 in the order of merit, as those players skip the first two dangerous rounds in Minehead.

As a top 32 seed Jabba gets a bye in round 1 each day.

Coral UK Open Qualifier Four
Friday February 20, Robin Park Tennis Centre, Wigan

Round 1:  Jamie Caven Bye
Round 2:  Jamie Caven 6-0 James Hubbard
Round 3:  Jamie Caven 6-1 Mark Dudbridge
Round 4:  Jamie Caven 6-2 James Richardson
Round 5:  Jamie Caven 6-1 Steve Hine
1/4 final:  Jelle Klaasen 6-2 Jamie Caven

A great day for Jabba, as he has a strong run to the quarter finals, adding £1,500 to his qualifying pot, and that £2,000 puts him in a much stronger position, in joint 20th, and within that top 32.

Coral UK Open Qualifier Five
Saturday February 21, Robin Park Tennis Centre, Wigan

Round 1:  Jamie Caven Bye
Round 2:  Christian Kist 6-5 Jamie Caven

Coral UK Open Qualifier Six
Saturday February 22, Robin Park Tennis Centre, Wigan

Round 1:  Jamie Caven Bye
Round 2:  Jamie Caven 6-4 Curtis Hammond
Round 3:  Jamie Caven 6-4 Wayne Jones
Round 4:  Jamie Caven 6-4 Terry Temple
Round 5:  Jamie Caven 6-4 Steve Beaton
1/4 final:   Adrian Lewis 6-3 Jamie Caven

A great way to end the qualifiers, winning £1,500, and ending up on £3,500, which makes Jabba 19th seed, well within that magical top 32, meaning he avoids the first two rounds.
