Jabba in Austria; PDC European Tour

Jamie Caven at the Austrian Darts Open

Jabba headed to Austria this weekend for another huge £100,000 prize money darts tournament, another in the 2014 series of PDC European Tour events.

48 top players from across Europe qualified for the event, which is played over three days in front of a large Austrian crowd of darts fans.  As a top 16 seed, Jamie gets a bye in round 1, and joins on Saturday in round 2.

Coverage of the tournament will be streamed live through the Bet365, Coral, Ladbrokes, Unibet and William Hill websites, and outside of the UK & Ireland through www.LIVEPDC.TV.

Round 1:  Jamie Caven bye
Round 2:  Jamie Caven 6-5 Terry Jenkins
Round 3:  Jamie Caven 6-5 Stephen Bunting
1/4 Final:  Jamie Caven 6-5 Phil Taylor
Semi final:  Jamie Caven 6-5 Peter Wright
Final:  Jamie Caven 5-6 Vincent van der Voort

In round 2 Jabba produced one of the comebacks of the tournament in his 6-5 win over Terry Jenkins, who had averaged 108.5 in his first round win and looked to be cruising at 4-1 up against the Derby ace, but a 129 checkout in the sixth leg saw Caven close the gap to two legs at 4-2.  The next two legs went with the darts to see Jenkins move one leg away from a last 16 place, but then Caven turned on the style to win the next three legs and secure a 6-5 victory, including a 156 finish in the tenth leg.

Jabba is having to do this the hard way, three 6-5 wins so far to get to the semi-final, including a win against Phil Taylor!  Yet another 6-5 game won, this time against the much improved Snakebite Wright.  So a final lined up against the Dutch speedster Vincent van der Voort!  Jabba pushes into a 5-2 lead, but then Vincent puts the afterburners on and wins the next 4 legs in a row to take the title.
